Olše (Alnus) je rod rostlin z čeledi břízovité. Jsou to opadavé stromy a keře s jednoduchými střídavými listy a nenápadnými květy opylovanými větrem. Samčí květy jsou v převislých jehnědách, samičí v šišticích. Plodem jsou drobné, většinou křídlaté oříšky v dřevnatém šišticovitém plodenství.
