Chloroform neboli trichlormethan (mimo chemii dle PČP trichlormetan), je bezbarvá těkavá, avšak nehořlavá kapalina charakteristického nasládlého zápachu. Jeho páry jsou značně těžší než vzduch (4,12krát), proto se v uzavřených prostorách hromadí u podlahy a obtížně se vyvětrává.
