Alotropie je schopnost některých chemických prvků vyskytovat se v několika různých strukturních formách (alotropických modifikacích). Jednotlivé alotropické modifikace se často liší typem krystalové soustavy nebo počtem atomů v molekule, fyzikálními a mechanickými vlastnostmi.
