Tranent /trəˈnɛnt/ is a town in East Lothian (formerly Haddingtonshire), in the south-east of Scotland. Tranent lies 6 mi (9.7 km) from the boundary of Edinburgh, and 9.1 mi (14.6 km) from the city centre.
