East Lothian (/ˈloʊðiən/; Scots: Aest Lowden; Scottish Gaelic: Lodainn an Ear) is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland, as well as an historic county, registration county and lieutenancy area. The county was called Haddingtonshire until 1921.
