Diatomaceous earth (/ˌdaɪ.ətəˈmeɪʃəs/ DY-ə-tə-MAY-shəs), also known as diatomite (/daɪˈætəmaɪt/ dy-AT-ə-myte), celite, or kieselgur, is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that can be crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder.
