Katabolismus

Katabolismus (řecky καταβολισμός, katabolismós, rozpad nebo stanovení sil) je soubor metabolických drah (rozkladných procesů), při nichž z látek složitějších (polysacharidy, lipidy, bílkoviny, nukleové kyseliny) vznikají látky jednodušší (monosacharidy, mastné kyseliny, aminokyseliny, nukleotidy). Výsledné látky katabolismu se nazývají katabolity.
