Wangunk

The Wangunk or Mattabesec refers to a collection of closely related Indigenous peoples of the Northeastern Woodlands all from central Connecticut. Many were members of the Wappinger, a Munsee-speaking confederacy. The Wangunk settled along the Connecticut River.
