Vardapet

A vardapet (Armenian: վարդապետ, Eastern Armenian: ; Western Armenian: vartabed, ) is a title given to highly educated hieromonks in the Armenian Apostolic Church. It has been variously translated as 'doctor', 'doctor-monk', 'archimandrite', or 'doctor of theology'.
