Synthronon

The synthronon (Greek: σύνθρονον; plural: σύνθρονα, synthrona) is a semicircular tiered structure at the back of the altar in the liturgical apse of an Eastern Orthodox church that combines benches reserved for the clergy with the bishop's throne in the centre.
