Sanjak

A sanjak or sancak (Ottoman Turkish: سنجاق, sancak, "flag, banner") was an administrative division of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottomans also sometimes called the sanjak a liva (لوا, livâ), using the name's calque in Arabic and Persian.
