Opava: History, Geography, Culture & Economy

Opava (Czech pronunciation: ⓘ; German: Troppau, Polish: Opawa) is a city in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 55,000 inhabitants. It lies on the Opava River, near the border with Poland. It is a regional centre of education and culture, known for the Silesian University in Opava and the Silesian Museum.
