Gnawa: History, Music & Regions

The Gnawa (/ɡ(ə)ˈnɑːwə/) (or Gnaoua, Ghanawa, Ghanawi, Gnawi'; Arabic: ڭناوة, romanized: Gnāwa) are an ethnic minority inhabiting southern Morocco, who had been brought to Morocco as slaves from West Africa’s Sahel.
