Châteauroux (/ˌʃætoʊˈruː/ SHAT-oh-ROO; French pronunciation: ⓘ; Occitan: Chasteurós) is the capital city of the French department of Indre, central France and the second-largest town in the former province of Berry, after Bourges. Its residents are called Castelroussins (pronounced ) in French.
