Tympán (resp. obvykle v množném čísle tympány, česky též kotel / kotle) je rytmický blanozvučný bicí nástroj používaný především v symfonickém orchestru. Výraz tympán je odvozen z italského výrazu timpano; má původ v antické řečtině, i když ne zcela synonymický.
