Tribun (lat. tribunus, od tribus, kmen) byl původně patrně kmenový předák, ve starověkém Římě vysoký a zpravidla volený výkonný úředník. Největší politický význam měl tribun lidu. Titul se pak užíval i pro vojenské velitele nebo vysoké městské úředníky až do novověku.
