STS-51-L byla poslední mise raketoplánu Challenger. Cílem mise bylo vypuštění komunikační družice TDRS-B, astronomické pozorování a experimenty. Raketoplán 73 sekund po startu explodoval a nikdo ze sedmičlenné posádky nepřežil. Spolu s havárií raketoplánu Columbia jde o nejtragičtější vesmírnou misi, při obou zahynulo sedm lidí.
