Pyrit (též železný pyrit, či kyz železný, chemicky disulfid železnatý) je velmi hojný minerál a důležitá železná ruda. Obvykle má zlatavou barvu, pro kterou bývá někdy neznalými zaměňován se zlatem, proto se mu taky někdy říká bláznovo zlato či kočičí zlato.
