Vytěsnění (někdy též potlačení) je druh obranného mechanismu, při němž jsou nepříjemné myšlenky, motivy a fantazie, nevědomě přesunuty z vědomí do nevědomí. Jako pojem zavedla vytěsnění Anna Freudová v publikaci Já a obranné mechanismy. Navázala tak na práci svého otce, Sigmunda Freuda.
