Polokeř (suffrutex, hemixylum) je cévnatá rostlina, která se od keře liší tím, že nepříznivé období (zimu) přečkává jen přibližně 10–20centimetrový zdřevnatělý stonek. Zbylé části stonku jsou bylinné a na zimu odumírají. Také mívají menší výšku než keře.
