Pobočková telefonní ústředna, PBX (Private branch exchange) je zařízení (počítač), které sjednocuje výstupní body všech firemních telefonů do veřejné telefonní sítě. PBX mělo kromě zjednodušení obsluhy také ohromný dopad na úspory. Místo vedení poplatků za každé telefonní číslo, platila firma pouze přístupový bod.
