Melatonin

Melatonin, systematický název 5-methoxy-N-acetyltryptamin, též „hormon spánku“, je hormon, který je produkován především v noci a reguluje chronobiologické rytmy. Hormon je produkován epifýzou (nadvěskem mozkovým, tzn. částí mezimozku) a je nejčastěji lokalizován v mozku, v souvisejících neuro-orgánech a v pohlavních orgánech.
