Kapr (Cyprinus Linnaeus, 1758) je rod velkých ryb z čeledi kaprovitých. Kapři dorůstají značné délky, až 1 metr při hmotnosti 30 kilogramů a více. Jejich šupiny jsou velké. Mají vždy dva páry vousků.
