Iluminace

Iluminace (z lat. illūminātiō, osvětlení, ozdobení) je výtvarný, často barevný obrazový doprovod textu ve středověkých rukopisech. Písař nejprve rozvrhl a nalinkoval stránku, do řádků napsal text a na vhodných místech vynechal místo pro iluminace. Člověk, který kreslil iluminace, byl iluminátor.
