Gnómón

Gnómón je tyč kolmá k zemi, která pomocí vrženého stínu zobrazuje čas horizontálních slunečních hodin (resp. polohu slunce na nebeské sféře). Sluneční čas ukazuje konec vrženého stínu, jehož délka se mění v závislosti na ročním období, a proto bývá na konci gnómónu kulička (nodus). Gnómon je tak astronomickým nástroj, který úhlem stínu vůči poledníku…
