Slovo drift (v angl. nést, unášet, hnát) může mít více významů. Obvykle představuje pomalý, postupný, dlouhodobý pohyb nebo změnu, pohyb jiným směrem, než kterým působí viditelná síla (způsobený existencí dalších sil), příp. působení tekutin posunujících hmotný předmět ve směru aktuálního proudu.
