Carduelis je rod zrnožravých ptáků z čeledi pěnkavovitých. Tento rod vytyčil již francouzský přírodovědec Mathurin Jacques Brisson v roce 1760. Termín carduelis v pochází z latiny, ve které se jím pojmenovává stehlík obecný (Carduelis carduelis).
