Banjo (zřídka bendžo či benžo) je drnkací čtyř-, pěti- nebo šestistrunný nástroj. Tón vzniká podobně jako u kytary rozechvěním struny mezi nultým pražcem a kobylkou. Pomocí hmatníku je možné struny zkracovat a tím zvyšovat jejich tón.
