Strana Baas, celým českým názvem Socialistická strana arabské obrody (arabsky حزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي‎), byla založena v dubnu 1947 v Damašku jako arabské sekulární nacionalistické hnutí bojující proti koloniálním mocnostem. Stranu založil syrský křesťan Michel Aflak.
